Pencil 0.4.4b
Pencil 0.4.4b for Mac is out.
Some new features...
Vector graphics are now saved in separate files. You should see an increase of speed when saving big documents, since Pencil now saves only the changes.
The window can be made translucent (as requested)
The paint brush has new options in bitmap mode:
1) preserve alpha of the image (as requested). This makes it possible to change add some gradient to a fill, or change smoothly the colours of a linework (if the layer contains only linework)
2) "stop at contours", the paint brush detects the linework. This might be useful to fill shape which are loosely closed - where the paint bucket would inevitably fail.
I believe the QuickTime export should work fine on the Mac, now.
(For other platforms, someone please compile the source code and I'll put the binary online.)

Hi, I am a Kubuntu's user, I compile Pencil 0.4.4b on Linux, and I think the new features are great but I can't see translucent windows yet, It is only for Mac??In this moment I try to learn how to make a package for linux, wait for news soon.

I am not the creator,but the translucent window effect works on windows too.
windows xp sp2 /Amd althon 64 CPU /1536 memory / Genius mousepen tablet /Pencil v0.4.4b

Hi,
I am new to Mac, I have never used one and don't know anything at all about them, I am sorry to say. However, I have just bought a MacBook Pro with the intention to learn animation as I intend to produce a short animation in the very near future. Could you or anybody be kind enough to guide as to which version should I download please. I hope to share my works with all of you soon.

I made today a .deb package for Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex and i would like to share with the community of Pencil. This is the first package that I made.

I continous learning mking package for linux, today i compile Pencil 0.4.4b in Debian Etch and it work fine and etch have Qt libs 4.2.1, without trouble to this moment, so, I make a .deb package for this Debian version and I will enchant to share with somebody interest. Please contact me. My next work is make a package for Ubuntu Hardy Heron LTS. Wait for my news soon.
